Greater Dickson Gas Authority

Customer Line Safety

Excess Flow Values

The Greater Dickson Gas Authority is required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to notify all new customers and existing customers whose service line has been interrupted due to third party damage or relocation about a device called an EXCESS FLOW VALUE (EFV).

EFV'S restrict the flow of gas by closing automatically if a service line breaks, and mitigate the consequences of service line failures.  The Greater Dickson Gas Authority will install an EFV to minimize the chances of gas escaping in around a customer's residence due to service line breakage.  The EFV is not mandatory, but is available to the customer upon request of the customer.

The cost of installing the EFV on a new service will be billed in the amount of two hundred ($200.00) after work is completed.  The cost on maintenance, replacement, or installation of the EFV on existing service lines would be billed at the time this work is done ranging from $200 to $2,000.
